Mental Health First Aid Training Refresher

Date: 19 November 2024, 11am to 4pm AEDT

Have you completed a Mental Health First Aid® (MHFA™) course within the last 3 years and want to renew your accreditation for another 3 years?

Delivered online, the Refresher Course allows you to brush up on the knowledge and skills you learned in the MHFA course.

The course will reinforce the necessary skills and confidence to provide ongoing mental health first aid to a co-worker or to someone who may be experiencing a mental health problem.

Early recognition of issues and a safe and supportive workplace are keys to improved mental health outcomes. This refresher training is recommended to staff at all levels of seniority, who have previously undertaken MHFA training.

Please note:

You are eligible for a Refresher Course if you have completed a Mental Health First Aid®(MHFA™) course and the accreditation assessment within the last 3 years.

  • Please check the expiry date on your existing MHFA Certificate of Accreditation so that you can keep your accreditation up to date.
  • The Refresher Course is an interactive live online session led by an instructor utilising video conferencing software. For you to participate, the instructor must see and hear you. Please ensure you have access to a camera and a microphone.

Course Outline

From the 5-hour live virtual Refresher Course (including breaks), you will:

  • Gain an understanding of the latest research in the mental health field
  • Learn the 3 key actions for helping someone feeling suicidal
  • Work through complex mental health first aid interactions
  • Practice mental health first aid skills with the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan ALGEE

Upon completion of your Refresher Course, you can attempt another accreditation assessment to extend your accreditation by a further 3 years.
