This Legal Practice Management Course will be conducted entirely online.
Making the transition from solicitor to principal of a law practice requires greater skills and understanding of the business of managing a legal practice.
This course is ideal for lawyers to gain a good grounding in law practice management or as a refresher course for more experienced practitioners.
Learn about the challenges and pitfalls of running your own practice, with an emphasis on financial management, strategic planning and business development. Discuss with experienced practitioners the typical issues faced in running a professional service firm including cash flow and profitability, maintaining trust accounts, dealing with common ethical dilemmas, and instituting business and risk management systems.
This course meets the requirements of the Queensland Law Society for obtaining a Principal Practising Certificate and is fully accredited by the Law Society.

Before commencement of the workshop, you are required to undertake 6 hours mandatory pre-readings available online. You will also be required to attend mandatory Trust online webinars, complete the online Trust Assessment (Assignment 1) prior to commencement of the workshop and view four (4) Risk videos prior to the commencement of the workshop.
Once you have successfully passed all four assessments, you will be issued with a PMC Statement which you can use to apply for your Principal Practising Certificate from the Queensland Law Society.
* Assessment rates required to successfully complete the course have been prescribed by the Queensland Law Society.
To be eligible to commence the Course, a participant must be admitted to practice as an Australian lawyer as defined in s 5(1) Legal Profession Act 2007. Participants do not need to be currently working as a solicitor or hold a practising certificate to enrol in the Course.

Our course has been designed specifically for legal practitioners who want to practise as a:

- community legal centre supervisors
Seminars and other CPD activities are not accredited by the Queensland Law Society Inc. Under the Society’s CPD Rules, if this particular educational activity is relevant to your immediate or long term needs in relation to your professional development and the practice of the law, then you should claim one unit for each hour of attendance, refreshment breaks not included. The annual requirement is ten (10) CPD units each year from 1 April to 31 March.
Graduates of the College’s Legal Practice Management Course can claim 10 CPD points in the CPD year in which they graduate.
CPD units acquired during the period 1 January to 31 March may be counted in the current CPD year or the following CPD year, but not both.
This course complies with the mandatory areas of Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Practice Management and Business Skills and Professional Skills.
Live attendance at the online workshop sessions is mandatory for this course. Workshop sessions may be recorded for later viewing by those who are unable to participate in the live-streamed sessions due to extenuating and/or urgent circumstances. The focus of the recordings will be on the presenter, but you may incidentally appear. These recordings will only be shared with students enrolled in this specific course. The recordings will not be made available commercially or publicly, nor will they be used for marketing or publicity purposes.
