Professional conduct and discipline for lawyers: Practice guide
Course Overview
Every year, lawyers across Australia are suspended or struck off from the Roll of Legal Practitioners due to misconduct or unsatisfactory professional conduct.
To ensure this never happens to you, it's critical to have the technical knowledge and skills necessary to practise law as well as the necessary professional values and attitude to comply with your professional obligations.
In this course, you’ll learn how to act ethically and consistently within the relevant legal rules and jurisdictions.
At the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
- Advise on practising ethically in practice
- Evaluate the statutory disciplinary scheme and identify potential professional misconduct
- Carry out the steps in applying and maintaining a practising certificate
- Examine the complaints and discipline regime under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (the scheme that creates a common legal services market across New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia)
